Emergency Wedding & Event Photography

The best-laid plans...
When all the other pieces are in place and your photographer disappears, it’s either time to panic, or contact me at (708) 609-1257. If at all possible, I’ll rearrange my schedule, grab my equipment, and photograph your wedding or event. While you won’t get a traditional wedding package, you will get great coverage of the ceremony and reception, with all images burned on CD or DVD to use any way you choose. I’ll travel up to 300 miles from Chicago, time permitting, for an agreed-upon price, including expenses, payable in cash on arrival. I can shoot just candid images, or, for an additional charge, set up a studio portrait backdrop and lighting area at the reception.

I can shoot your event with my high-end digital camera in RAW or .JPG mode. RAW creates large files that contain all the data the lens captured, but they require post-processing to adjust for perfect exposure, highlight and shadow detail, and color balance. RAW is the equivalent of a digital negative. The RAW files are then batch-processed into .JPGs.

When the camera is set to save the image in .JPG files, all the processing of the RAW image data is performed by the camera based on the exposure and white balance settings at the time of exposure. While .JPG files can be edited in Adobe® Photoshop®, they have lost much of the original image data that’s available in the RAW file.

What this means is that a white wedding dress, for example, may be overexposed by the flash, existing lights, or an incorrect exposure, resulting in little or no detail in the white dress. With RAW files, that image can be adjusted to reduce the brightness, and bring back the dress details. In a .JPG file, if the whites are blown out, it’s impossible to get back any subtle details and texture.

I’ll be glad to shoot your event in the RAW mode, but it takes more time and expense to then process and convert the images. If I shoot in .JPG mode, I’ll burn your pictures onto disk on the night of your wedding or event. With RAW capture, it will take a couple of extra days, but you will get all the RAW files and .JPG copies of them on DVD. You will have full reproduction rights to these images, and may print them, use them on your website, or do anything you wish with them. If you’d like me to also post the pictures on my website, your family and friends could view the images and purchase prints directly from www.NedThePhotographer.com.

If you have a photographic emergency, call me at (708) 609-1257 as soon as possible so I can try to fit you into my schedule. This offer applies to any event that needs to be documented, such as festivals, ceremonies, parties, reunions, charity dinners, golf outings, bar/bat mitzvahs, etc. I hope you never have such an emergency, but if you do, I’ll do my best to help you avoid disaster and disappointment.

Thank you!

Ned, The Photographer
